About Hazel Goss

I was born in London in 1946, the middle child of three. The family moved to Harlow in Essex when it was a very small, new town with an enthusiastic community spirit.

I went to S. Martin’s College of education and became a primary school teacher, returning to Harlow for my first job. The following year I married John. We moved to Biggleswade in Bedfordshire and, during the next seven years, our two children were born. During this time, I studied with the Open University and gained a BA.

John was offered a promotion if he would move to North Yorkshire. He accepted with pleasure, having had many camping holidays in the area. The gentler pace of life was good for growing children and for a writer.

Writing has always been something I enjoyed, poems, stories and holiday diaries so, when I took early retirement, I went to a creative writing class. Out of that a self-help group was formed called The Next Chapter. We wrote stories and poems but were all excited when a local author suggested a course called, ‘Write a book in a Year’. I wrote my first novel, ‘Forced to Flee’ about the ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo, during the collapse of Yugoslavia.

There was still a need to write and, as I have enjoyed many fantasy stories, ‘Pathway Back’ became my next project. As I finished writing that, the idea for a sequel grew and became The Pathway Forward. I finished that book with a clue to the last novel in the series, The Rocky Pathway. All the books in the Pathway Series are set in the Harrogate area, where I live.

My latest book is a memoir called ‘When life Throws you a Lemon'.

I hope you enjoy the stories and poems in this website as well as finding links to my books.

''From the start I couldn’t put this book down. A great story with brilliant wording to build a picture of life during that period. My normal reads are Scott Mariani, Chris Kuzeneski, Lee Childs. A must for all like-minded people looking for a new top writer.''
